Our Contribution

In a world with over 6 billion people, seeking out and applying alternative energy technologies isn't a trend.... it's a responsibility. Our founders, Nathan and Comilla Jones, have been utilizing renewable resources both at home and on the job for nearly two decades. From arrays of solar panels at their home to solar water collectors, waste-grease powered vehicles, hydro-electric and wind turbines, they have proven that reliance on 'the grid' is not necessary in the modern world. Fossil fuels will run out one day. The production of oil is already on the decline. There's no secret that we, as a species, have tapped the resources we have come to rely on to their limit. Without a signifigant change in our methods of producing energy, the future of mankind is in jeopardy. There is, however, hope... and it's been here all along:

Our Fleet

At Power Source Solar, our transportation needs are quite demanding. While diesel-powered vehicles have a considerably better fuel intake to power output ratio than gasoline-powered vehicles, there had to be a better way. By implementing the use of recycled vegetable waste grease in both of our 'work trucks' as well as private vehicles, we not only save on fuel expenses, but are able to reduce our usage of non-renewable petroleum based fuels. The occassional smell of french fries, however, does cost us valuable time in the form of compulsory pit stops at the local fast food joints.

Electric Parts Truck Anyone?

It's hard to imagine keeping up with traffic in a golf-cart, but riding around in our solar-charged Lido is essentially just that. While it lacks the top-end speed for safe highway travel, getting around town tends to be quicker than in a car. Making parts runs, picking up lunch, or just 'showing off' for the neighbors- it's guaranteed to put a grin on your face. Incidentally, it's not for sale.

Off the Grid, Off the Beaten Path

It started out as an idea, grew to an experiment, evolved as a hobby and ended up a lifestyle. Working with our available natural resources instead of against them, the Jones' family has proven that there are few, if any, concessions necessary to minimize one's carbon footprint. Radiant heat in the flooring of our new shop, drinking water provided by a natural spring and complete independence from the utility company-  we're just not so sure about those composting toilets just yet...
